Hydro has set a clear technology roadmap for developing zero-emission aluminium products and production. We work along three paths; recycling post-consumer scrap, decarbonizing current primary production through carbon capture, and developing a new technology for aluminium production with net-zero emissions called HalZero.

 

The organization dedicated to HalZero is part of Aluminium Metal’s business unit Technology and Operational Support (TOS). Our overall strategy is to develop, test, and verify the HalZero technology through R&D, stepwise scaling, and operation, to prove competitive net-zero production at industrial scale.

We now construct a test facility at Herøya in Porsgrunn, Norway. In parallel, we will further develop the HalZero concept and scale the technology through an Industrial Concept Pilot facility.

The HalZero organization is growing and has already attracted a team with diverse backgrounds and nationalities. We are now looking to hire a new member of our Management Team in the position of Strategy and Business Development Manager.

This is a great opportunity for an up-and-coming professional with engineering background to drive processes relating to analysis, partnerships, and business development on the exciting path forward!

Your responsibilities and deliveries

  • Develop and own system-techno-economic analyses to evaluate the viability and competitiveness of HalZero technologies.
  • Develop and own tools, models, and solutions supporting the strategic guidance of projects and business development.
  • Key analytical/modeling work within fields like:
    • benchmarking technology and business opportunities.
    • valuation and financial scenarios.
    • risk and opportunities sensitivity analysis.
  • Identify and pursue potential partnerships.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including industry partners and public funding bodies.
  • Manage and protect intellectual property to secure the project’s innovations and maintain a competitive edge.
  • Identify and drive application for and reporting of external funding.
  • Support and facilitate project reporting and yearly planning process incl. short and long-term strategy.
  • Support development of HalZero overarching business potential/business model and commercialization strategy.

Your qualifications and skills

  • Engineering background with a Master’s degree in Industrial Economics, Chemistry, Energy, or a related engineering field.
  • Up to 10 years’ experience in business development and strategic partnership management, e.g. from business consulting, technology, and/or industry.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience in market evaluations and business case analysis.
  • Excellent negotiation and relationship-building skills.
  • Proven technology and project development understanding.
    Strategic thinker with a talent for identifying and capitalizing on opportunities.
  • Strong communicator, proactive, and results-driven.
